The attached document titled "CFTC Corn and Soybean Performance Report" is the third annual report submitted in fulfillment of CFTC requirements ordered after the introduction of the new delivery system in 2000. Additional information about the new delivery system is presented in the CBOT booklet, "Illinois Waterway Delivery System."

Changes in the delivery system are presented along with a comparison of the prior ownership and location of delivery facilities in the new delivery system. Several methodologies are also included to show market performance in the corn and soybean futures contracts. Four sections present:

1. Futures market trading performance by volume, maximum open interest, open interest on first position day of the delivery month.

2. Futures market deliveries by contract month and delivery territory are presented to show the extent to which particular locational price differentials affect deliveries.

3. Cash marketing activities such as stocks of grain at delivery locations and receipts and shipments by delivery territory are presented to show the potential deliverable supply.

4. Cash price differentials among delivery locations, correlations between cash prices at delivery locations and at various out-of-position locations and futures prices, and the Chicago delivery basis are calculated to show hedging effectiveness and convergence.

Additional documents are attached to present the historical performance of corn, soybeans, wheat, and soybean oil contracts from 1999 to the present.
